About the lack of activity…

School’s kicking in to high gear since it’s just past mid-term, and I haven’t had time to do anything with my nails

I also think that the fact that I’m strictly following the design list is sapping my ideas, if you haven’t been able to tell from the last few designs.

So, what I am going to do is take a break from the list and just try to do something with my nails every few days or every week or something. I’ll keep you all posted, of course.

Thanks to my followers who are sticking around through this!

Suit Nails Tutorial!

Here’s a short little tutorial explaining how I did my suit nails for the TV show design!

In this video I used Ulta Snow White and Julep Gunta.

Design Eighteen: Butterfly Wings
I wanted to try something different since I think everyone would probably go with a monarch wings (though I love monarchs!) and decided to go with a blue morpho butterfly. (Because I don’t wear enough blue polish.)
I LOVE THIS DESIGN. It makes me happy when I look down at my nails - something I haven’t felt in a while! My last few designs have felt a bit off but this one I love.

Design Seventeen: Video Games
This design is based off of one of my favorite video games, Persona 4.
The game uses a lot of yellow, so I used that as the base color because I’m lazy and my old brain is having issues thinking up creative designs these days. Plus I just love yellow. The ring finger is based on the design that shows up when you jump through the TV, despite the fact that I drew it kinda poorly.
I wanted to experiment with Sharpie instead of black nail polish (since I figured Sharpie would be easier to draw the design on my ring finger with.) It actually didn’t work as well as I thought it would, and it smudged when I put a top coat on. I probably won’t do it again…lesson learned!

Design Sixteen: TV show
This design works for two TV shows, I decided! (If you can’t tell, they’re little suits!) I originally did this design for How I Met Your Mother, since Barney always tells people to “Suit up!”
Buuuut…then I realized it also works for Suits, on USA! Since, you know, suit is kind of in the name. And I love Suits, so it works.
So, there you have it: mini suits. I’m going to do a tutorial on this over the weekend too because it’s a super cute look and I got like 290840928340 compliments on these. Not that many, more like…10. Whatever.
I think this could be fun if you used fun colors instead of black! I was going for a more traditional look, but you could use bright colors or even do little pinstripes if you are so inclined. So many options!

Updates!

Hi followers! I know I haven’t updated in a while, but I want to try and get back into frequent blogging!

My last few weeks have been so hectic with school, work, and my internship that I recently acquired.

However, I will be updating very soon! I need to update with my design for TV shows, and soon I’ll be putting up my design for video games.

Thank you to all of my followers who are sticking around! I love you guys!

Design Fifteen: Beloved Childhood Character
This manicure is based off of Clifford the Big Red Dog…not the cartoon character but the book character. Well, cartoon book character. I loved Clifford when I was a little kid! So, he gets honored in this design. The skinny french tip is reminiscent of Clifford’s black collar!

UTLA Let the Flames Begin Review
Grade: 5/5
This polish is amazing.
I love the color, for one thing. I’m usually not big on reds but this red doesn’t look old-lady-ish and it’s bright and vibrant and great for a pop of color. I think it’s more pinkish than other reds, which gives it a brighter, more of a poppy shade.
What I love MOST about this polish is…it’s a one-coater! The picture is shown with one coat! I love one-coaters, they make me so happy because I hate waiting for my first coat of polish to dry.
It’s a bit thin around the tips, as in you can see the color difference between the nail bed and the natural white tip of the nail, but you have to look REALLY close.
The application also went smoothly and it applies wonderfully.
I’m really starting to love these ULTA polishes, and I’ll definitely get more in the future!
For it’s application and one-coater properties, Let the Flames Begin gets a perfect 5/5 score!
